Mikel Arteta sends powerful message to fans after signing Arsenal extension until 2027

Mikel Arteta has finally put pen to papers to continue the process he statrted at Arsenal for three more years until 2027.

The 42-year-old Spaniard, who was into the final year of his Arsenal contract was never considering a future away from the club anytime soon, and his recent extension is a mere formality that has to be satisfied.

What Mikel Arteta said after signing Arsenal extension

Speaking at the announcement of his contract extension, Mikel Arteta said; “I’m extremely proud, very excited and am looking forward to what is coming next. I’m proud to be where I am and have the relationships that I have with everyone at the club”.

“I feel extremely lucky to work every single day with good people and the ambition we have here. I feel very inspired, I feel challenged, I feel supported and I want to do much more than what we’ve already done together”.

Mikel Arteta, who replaced Unai Emery in December 2019 has helped transformed Arsenal into a genuine title contender, while a return to the UEFA Champions League after seven years absence is also one of the highlights of his time so far as the club’s manager.

With a record of 139 wins out of his 235 games in charge of Arsenal in all competitions (59%), Mikel Arteta has the highest win rate of any manager in the club’s history (50+ games), even ahead of Arsène Wenger in second (57%). He believes fans have played crucial role in the transformation process at Arsenal.

“Together with the players and everyone at the club, we are looking forward to the coming years, with our supporters, who have emotionally transformed the club and the team”.

“Our supporters have transformed individuals and we are different now. You can tell that we are different and for me, that is down to them. We look forward to continuing the journey together.” Mikel Arteta concluded.

Arsenal face a crucial task this weekend as they travel to the London Stadium to battle Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby in continuation of the Premier League. It is a more challenging task given Mikel Arteta will be missing his captain Martin Ødegaard, and the duo of Declan Rice, suspended, and summer signing Mikel Merino.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Tottenham Hotspur and Mikel Arteta will be looking to continue with this impressive record despite the odds, even so, to mark his contract extension with the club he once was a player, and a captain.
